Paula was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and immigrated to the United States in 1977. She holds a BS in Architecture from Wentworth Institute of Technology and a Masters of Education from Bridgewater State College.

Paula worked as a drafter for five years and never felt fulfilled until she started teaching in 1991 in the Boston Public Schools. Teaching became a life career passion. As a teacher, Paula always found a way to incorporate some type of community service involving her students.

Paula had not returned to Haiti for many years. In April 2008, she felt compelled to take a trip there. It took her two days to realize that she had a “calling” to serve the less fortunate children, the orphans of Haiti. As an answer to that “calling,” she founded Ray of Hope Children Services, Inc., on January 26, 2009.
