Ray of Hope Children Services, Inc. (ROHCSI), is a United States-based 501-c(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 26-4068230) whose mission is to empower the under-served girls with no parents in Haute Feuille, Haiti and its neighboring towns through education and enhance their lives by providing food and shelter. ROHCSI is focused on education, with a long-term goal of developing a dynamic community for girls with no parents that delivers a broad range of services designed to provide food, shelter and schooling for this at-risk population. ROHCSI was founded in January 2009 by Paula Sylvestre, a teacher, born and raised in Haiti and came to the United States in July 1977. Ms. Sylvestre had begun the process of forming a nonprofit to direct resources to Haitian children in 2009 prior to the earthquake in 2010. Believing that education is the key to changing the conditions and life expectancy of the under-served girls with no parents in Haute Feuille, ROHCSI acquired land in the community and intends to build a multi-service complex that will house and educate the girls from infancy to adulthood. The organization has initially identified one hundred children in need of services over the coming decade, and expects to break ground by August 2015.
