In Haiti, the literacy level is as low as 52.9%. The enrollment rate for primary school is 67%, and fewer than 30% reach 6th grade. Secondary schools enroll 20% of eligible-age children. We want to change this statistic by providing our girls a free and rigorous education and arm them with a career before leaving our boarding school. We believe that education is the key to changing their lives. We also believe that to educate a girl is to preserve the world.
Our educational goals include:
§ Operating as a K –8 boarding school, with grades K-2 rolled out first
§ Providing a safe learning environment to meet students’ physical, educational, and social-emotional needs
§ Offering rigorous academics, cultural enrichment opportunities, and performing and visual arts experiences
§ Providing viable entrepreneurial and vocational pathways for over-age and off-track girls including sewing and clothing design, cooking, cosmetology, carpentry, wood carving, and technology
